Escape Life When You Step Into A Gallery
Sunday ~ October 10, 2011
You can escape life when you step into an art gallery, because for those who appreciate art, each painting can be like a world unto itself. Each painting can evoke a particular set of emotions and feelings just through the skill of the artist. Depictions of a particular vista or location, for example, can make you feel like you’re right there, in that seascape, or on a beach, island or mountain, feeling the high wind and looking down on the small-looking people and landscapes below you. Art galleries can also transport you in time, from the modern world, to a place that is in the distant past, like a landscape untouched by man, full of rabbits, deer, or other small wildlife. Paintings done in a more modern realistic style might look so real that you might think you need only extend your hand forward and you can touch the soft fur of a rabbit, or the rough scales of a lizard. Art allows us to escape the cares, responsibilities, and even the usually vistas and head spaces of our lives. It is quite possible, after all to become tired of seeing the same old city scene if you see it frequently.
