Plan Your Next Field Trip At The Museum
Friday ~ October 10, 2011
Want to make your classroom come alive? Stimulate the imaginations of each of your students? Show how each individual’s perspective of history, culture and self can transform into something unique and tangible? Why not plan your next field trip to the museum? One type of museum which does all of the above and can be found in most cities is an art museum. Art reflects the time in which is was created as well as the culture from which the artist comes. It tells a story. Sometimes it tells a story of the artist’s feelings, and it always tells us at least a little about the beholder. Students are bound to find themselves intrigued as they explore the many different modes of self expression and discover those which speak directly to them. Watch and share with them as their interest grows and perhaps they understand something for the first time. A trip to an art museum is bound to open up a plethora of avenues for discussion and exploration within the classroom while creating a memory that will last a life time. Be sure also, to check, as many offer classes and contests to local school age students. How very exciting to go back for a second visit to see your own work displayed!
